Spiral Bible
Noah's Ark
Before the rain began, the animals came. Genesis 7 describes them arriving two by two, just as God commanded, and entering the ark He had told Noah to build. It’s one of the first Bible stories many of us ever heard, and it’s a picture of God’s faithfulness, provision, and care for all He has made.
This painting captures the quiet moment before the flood. A great wooden ark rests on a distant hill beneath a soft, cloud-filled sky, with a hint of rain gathering on the horizon. In the foreground, a gentle procession of elephants, gazelles, giraffes, and lions makes its way across a grassy plain. Ancient cypress trees and a gnarled, weathered trunk rise from rocky cliffs on one side, while wild shrubs frame the other. The muted palette of sand, taupe, sage, and blush gives it the warm, timeworn feel of a vintage oil painting.
